Porfirio Sanchez Galindo is the Editorial General Director of Grupo Televisa, the biggest media company in Hispanic America. He graduated from Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM) with a Bachelor of Science degree in applied mathematics in 1998. Porfirio later went back to school for further studies and now has additional qualifications from Carnegie Mellon University and Stanford Graduate School of Business. This is typical of Porfirio as he always wants to acquire more knowledge and be up to date with the latest industry practices.
About two years after graduating from ITAM, Porfirio got a job at the Mexican Finance Ministry and worked there from December 2000 to November 2006. He then joined Grupo Televisa as director of economic analysis and special projects. The experience he acquired while working at the Mexican Fincance Ministry enabled him to do a good job in this position at Grupo Televisa.
His commitment and hard work saw him get promoted to Editorial General Director in 2015. He is in charge of marketing and telecommunications and leads the editorial team in setting goals and coming up with strategies to achieve them. He has achieved a lot in the short time he has served as Editorial General Director, including improving the quality of content and increasing Televisa’s information channels, hence giving more people access to their content.
Porfirio is very loyal and passionate about his job. He declined a job offer by the World Bank and chose to work with Grupo Televisa because he loves what he does. This also shows that he is not just driven by money as many people in today’s competitive business environment are. Porfirio also cares about the less fortunate and supports a number of non-profit organizations including Doctors without Borders, which helps needy people from all corners of the globe access basic healthcare.
