Sujit Choudhry Offiering Assistance to Help Resolve the Catalonia Crisis

The Center for Constitutional Transitions is an organization that can offer evidence-based constitutional options and aid reviewing laws and regulations thanks to the company’s experts in the field of comparative law and comparative constitutional law. The organization was founded by one such field expert, Mr. Sujit Choudhry, who is still holding the position as the organization’s Director. As a world-renowned legal expert, he attended the conference in Kiev, Ukraine.  To learn more about his outstanding achievements, check law.nyu.edu.

Recently, Mr. Sujit Choudhry assisted Spain as well as, as several scholars in constitutional law wrote an open letter to the country’s government and that of Catalan in order to offer some help and guidance with the ongoing crisis in Catalonia. The open letter implored both the Spanish and Catalan parties to engage in a dialogue in order to start amending the situation and subdue the crisis.  Click on iconnectblog.com to read a relevant interview of the professor.

The Catalonia Independence Vote earlier this year stirred up the most prominent dispute between Spin and Catalonia in more than 40 years. The supporters of independence for the region have proclaimed Catalonia as a republic. That prompted the Spanish government to impose direct rule on the autonomous region.

If Catalonia wants to be a viable country of its own independent from Spain, then that creates the matter of borders. In the open letter co-authored by Sujit Choudhry, the experts ask both sides to meet and talk about the wellbeing of the people within the two party’s borders. The open letter called for a peaceful dialogue to clear the questions of the citizens.

Part of the reasons why the experts penned the open letter to the two governments is because of Spain’s actions. The state of Spain resorted to brutality in order to prevent the Catalan from holding a referendum on the independence of Catalonia. That only made the already tense situation even more fragile.  Additional article to read on works.bepress.com.

The people of Catalonia are not united on the matter of independence from Spain, and so the situation is not yet resolved in the slightest. The Catalan president is engaging in dialogue with Spain, and thus the discussions will most likely continue over the first few months of next year.  For his recent timeline activities, hit on crunchbase.com.

Expert Choudhry

Sujit Choudhry was recently in the Ukraine – to discuss, to implement, to support and to uphold ukrainian constitutional law, of which he is no less an expert. In all things foreign policy and democratic strategy, he is likewise none the lesser. This man is brilliant, inspired, motivational, vision-filled and far more.

He truly has an eye for capturing things that most people miss. As a dedicated upper-level law instructor at the University of Berkeley, check this on blogs.law.nyu.edu,  how can he not be, especially when the very nature of his current role is to assess, to interpret, to quantify, to reassess and even to question all aspects of the legal business and of any current democratic constitution? It’s his privilege and his job, therefore, to make those details a bit clearer for all to understand. Sujit Choudhry particularly holds unrivaled expertise on all matters of Ukrainian politics and constitutional law; to call him a mere scholar in these fields is to commit a grave mistake as he is indescribably so much more than that alone.

He has spent every minute of his time in preparing talking points and further engaging in heated, but much-needed debates on countless matters – all in efforts to potentially rewrite certain aspects of Ukraine’s current unstable constitution, especially as they apply to its democratic laws and proceedings. Sujit Choudhry – A Renowned Chief Adviser in Constitution Building Processes

On 24th April 2014, Lynn Fosse of CEOCFO Magazine interviewed Sujit Choudhry, the founder of Center for Constitutional Transitions (CCT). According to Choudhry, CCT generates and mobilizes knowledge to support the Constitution. They do this by leading a network of experts that produce policy options for decision makers. CCT collaborates with think tanks and NGOs whom they have worked together in over 25 countries.

Choudhry was driven to establish CCT by the gap created during constitutional transitions where knowledge is either incomplete, outdated, or non-existent. He also wanted to solve the problem of lack of updated research to advice constitutional reviews. CCT came to fill these gaps. Having law degrees from three countries, Choudhry acknowledge that he has experience of many political and legal environments and learned political decision making which adds to his success profession wise.

According to Choudhry who has studied comparative constitutional law, the constitutional democracies around the world are similar to what is happening in America. America has never wanted to learn from successes and failures of other countries. Choudhry advises professionals to always listen to those on the ground and never assume things. He has learned to use his setbacks as the opportunity to start all over again and even come out better. To him, constant reinvention is the way to success.

Choudhry’s wish is to organize and host important constitutional case-law globally and in multiple languages. This, he hopes can change the history of constitutionalism. So far, Sujit Choudhry has brought together experts both practitioners and scholars to create global knowledge networks. At CCT, they are completing three projects in security sector reform, constitutional transition in emerging world, and security sector reform.  Related article to read on constitutionaltransitions.org

Constitution Expert Sujit Choudhry Is Interviewed By CEOCFO Magazine

Sujit Choudhry was asked by CEOCFO Magazine what lies ahead for his organization and for himself. Mr. Choudhry answered that his Center For Constitutional Transitions is working together with the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance on three major projects. They include studying and analyzing topics as varied as security reformation and constitutional transitions in new democracies and how to protect democratic institutions from sliding back into authoritarian rule. Additional research subjects include how to protect democratic values and constitutions from partisan gridlock and how to handle territorial changes and disputes within constitutional transitions. Sujit Choudhry also mentioned that the Center For Constitutional Transitions will be releasing its knowledge products based on its research analysis in autumn. Check on constitutionaltransitions.org for a related article to read.

Another question that was asked of Sujit Choudhry was what is one accomplishment that he now sees looking back that he previously was unaware of. One great accomplishment that Sujit Choudhry is now aware of is the fact that Sujit Choudhry has brought together some of the world’s foremost authorities on constitutional law. By bringing together these experts in one setting he has helped develop an extensive network of constitutional knowledge that spans the globe. Mr. Choudhry says that these connections have a lifespan and impact that is far greater and longer than any single project that is undertaken by the Center for Constitutional Transitions.

CEOCFO Magazine then asked what would Sujit Choudhry do if he had near unlimited funds and lots of time for a new project or venture. Sujit Choudhry answered that he would embark on a venture that would create an entirely new organization which would extract the most important case-law studies from around the globe. For the full interview, hit ceocfointerviews.com.    The cases would be recorded and translated from all of the languages of the world. This would make the diffusion of knowledge from one part of the world to the next much easier. It would also make information on constitutionalism much more readily available. There is a gap that exists in knowledge right now in constitutionalism says Choudhry. One of the reasons the gap exists is because major cases are not recorded and translated to be shared and viewed later on.  For more of Sujit and his works, visit his website by clicking sujitchoudhry.com.  And for his contact/service info, hit bizjournals.com.
