Building on success is not something the early pioneers of the electronic dance music scene have been known for but in the last few years, The Chainsmokers have been changing how electronic dance music has been seen around the world. Alex Pall had already become a success as a DJ in New York City when his original musical partner in The Chainsmokers decided to leave the duo; Pall found himself drawn to a more full-time career in music and quit his day job in time for his management team to bring Andrew Taggart to New York from college in Maine.
Few DJ partnerships have been as close to working together as The CHainsmokers since 2012 when the pair came together to create a new direction for electronic dance music groups. Alex Pall has already stated his belief in the genius of Andrew Taggart as a musician and believes the pair work well together on a number of levels; not only do both Taggart and Pall share a love of electronic dance music but they also share a belief in the power of social media platforms as a marketing tool.
As a collaboration, The Chainsmokers understand they bring different aspects of marketing success to the duo as Alex Pall not only contributes to the songwriting methodology but also provides a high level of skill as the man most responsible for the image of the band. Alex Pall believes few electronic dance music pioneers have held such a sense of ownership over their work as The Chainsmokers who have come together to join some of the world’s top writers in developing their music. Much of The Chainsmokers success has come from the fact their songs are based on the lives of the musical partners who have been seeking to push forward their skills as writers and performers to further the success of a band who have been a staple of the Billboard Top 20 for more than a year.
